Author of the fiction novel, Backyard Dog, Ms Benzel has lived with up to eight german shepherds at a time of various ages. Some were rescues, some were fosters for rescue organizations and a couple were purchased from a reputable breeder.

She served her town as an animal control officer for five years and helped many hundreds of animals survive by rehoming them or finding rescues/shelters to take them in. She also successfully filled in at a vet clinic for a short stint.
Her husband served as an ACO for eight years until he passed in 2005.

The book was written for readers to experience what it's like to view the world from a four-footed point of view. Why are so many dogs euthanized at shelters? Why do so many people believe breeding their pet is profitable or even desirable?

This book guides the reader through one litter's experience on earth and helps a shelter employee, Risa, discover what is important to her.

Hi,

A lot has been written about John McCain’s pick for Vice President, but here are a few things you might not know:

As governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin proposed paying a $150 bounty for the severed left foreleg of each dead wolf. She has championed aerial gunning of wolves and bears and approved a $400,000 state-funded campaign to promote this awful practice.

Learn more about Palin’s record online at:

REVIEWS:

I couldn't put the book down. It was as if every one of the pups had been my own. I was angry, I was sad, and at times, I was happy. It's easy to see that this writer really knows her stuff and that she put her heart into it. I rate it six out of six possible warm wet noses. A great book for any pet lover.

This novel deals with a mysterious red book, which follows the story of a litter of Shepherd puppies. I learned about dog care & health procedures. I especially liked that the author made sure to write about spaying and neutering. Hug your furry best friend!  It's like reading Animal planetHouston ASPCA!
